No one likes to shake someones hand and get a dead fish, so why do we have so many conversations with corpses? At some recent networking events, I have met too many people who have been (1) giving me a dead fish of a handshake and (2) responding to my questions in some canned manner. Let's get over the first point quickly; learn to give a nice firm but not overbearing handshake. Plus there are so many resources to learn these days. Just got back from a business trip in which I was supporting the SIFE St. Lawrence College team at the ACE Central Regional Exposition. The team did an amazing job and brought home three awards (a first, second and third). One thing I noticed on the trip was the significant variances of how people packed for their trip. The trip was essentially two days out and return on this morning. The event required two outfits of professional attire (suit and tie) and one fancy dinner party outfit.
